Description | Paz & Associates has been asked to recruit a Bookstore Manager for a new store in one of the most desirable locations in the country. The ideal candidate will be passionate about books and customer service, and excited about the opportunity to build a successful business from the ground up. Granada Books has just signed a lease and is currently in the midst of the store’s build-out; a soft opening is scheduled for June 2nd. They seek a Bookstore Manager to join the team in April or May: an entrepreneurial, personable and energetic leader who respects the written word, to manage and lead a vibrant team of booksellers, has a good head for business and numbers, an ability to network and to create marketing/event opportunities, and ideally, is familiar with bookstore systems and operations. In 2011, Santa Barbara’s downtown lost its Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores; some 50,000 sq. ft. of bookstore retail space disappeared – leaving a retail void which Granada Books intends to fill in a right-sized and sustainable manner. Located next to the historic Granada Theatre, Granada Books is building a patio behind the bookstore that will be used as an outdoor performance and events space. With an educated, literate, and artistic workforce based on media and high technology (UCSB has 5 Nobel Laureates), customer service will be their number one priority. Working side by side with the Operations Manager, the Bookstore Manager will co-create a center for discourse, civic engagement, and lively programming that invigorates both the mind and the downtown. |
