|Market Planning Director – Wholesale Channel Job Summary:|
As the Market Planning Director for the Wholesale Channel you will proactively develop and support Better World Books’ strategy for creating new sales outlets. You will create new products/services that deliver value to customers not currently served by Better World Books, and you will create the go-to-market strategy by which those potential customers adopt Better World Books as a supplier.
Specifically, you are charged with leveraging your knowledge of wholesale/retail relationships to develop channels by which other businesses can source products from Better World Books. You will be an internal and external champion for the wholesale business and the selling of bulk lots of used and remaindered books, selling cross-functional groups within the company on the value of the product to build a new business from scratch, and promoting the product externally through marketing and sales support.
This role will operate within the marketing department and will interface in a cross-functional environment with product development, operations, logistics, and finance. The position is located in Alpharetta, GA and reports to the vice president of marketing.
1.Develop wholesale vision, strategy, business case/plans, and roadmap. Establish the wholesale go-to-market strategy to monetize our surplus inventory to brick and mortar wholesale and retail channels.
2.Drive market research to determine requirements for current and future products. Embed customers deeply into the process, giving them a strong voice in the evolution of products.
3.Develop online and offline sales processes that support customer needs.
4.Write Market Requirement Documentation for new products/services and systems to support them.
5.Collaborate on the development and management of product/services offerings that support the channel roadmap.
6.Evaluate product performance, including competitive and market analysis.
7.Meet or exceed set goals.
8.Exemplify and live by the Company’s mission and core values.
9.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1.Knows the key players in the wholesale book business such as remainders houses and wholesalers. Understands their needs and has relationships with many of them.
2.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

4.Works collaboratively across internal functional groups and external partners. Capable of identifying and establishing new external partnerships.
5.Produces and understands complex statistics and financial reports; strong analytical skills required.

Qualifications, Training, and Experience:
1.Bachelor’s degree required. MBA is a plus.
2.5+ years of market planning / product management experience required.
3.3+ years of experience in book wholesale experience required.
4.Proven experience in the development and launch of products or services.
5.Proven track record of exceeding goals and winning. / product management
