A subsidiary of NordSud Verlag, based in Zurich Switzerland, NorthSouth has built up a reputation over 30 years for bring brings the best European illustrators and authors to the United States, including Marcus Pfister (The Rainbow Fish) and Hans DeBeer (The Little Polar Bear). Amongst our best-loved characters are the Rainbow Fish and Lars, the Little Polar Bear.
We are currently looking to expand our list with a new range program of books aimed at young readers, 6-10 years olds.
As editor you will be involved in advising at the title selection stage then supervising and coordinating the individual projects up to publication.
This position is ideal for somebody looking to work part-time from home on a freelance basis.
We expect you to You will review submissions and give feedback based on your experience of the US market and personal taste. You will then take on a key editing role and coordinate everyone involved in each individual project. These can include translators, designers and sales and marketing.
Working in an international environment means you will be available for regular online or telephone meetings with the head office in Zurich and the US team.
We see this role being key to the success of this range.
You will bring a good eye for making books work in the North American market and also experience of working in an editorial capacity on children’s books for the target age range.
Self-discipline and working to deadlines are things you thrive on. You have no problem juggling multiple projects at different stages of development without losing an eye for the expected quality.
Most of all you bring an enjoyment and enthusiasm for Children’s Books.
