The Great Books Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to advance the critical, reflective thinking and social and civic engagement of readers of all ages through Shared Inquiry™ discussion of works and ideas of enduring value.

The Great Books Foundation seeks a senior editor to contribute to the development of literature anthologies and associated teacher and student materials for grades K–12. Experience developing and/or teaching curriculum at grades K–1 is a plus.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

Education:
BA or advanced degree in English, literature studies, or education

Experience and Skills:
• At least three years of editorial experience in educational publishing
• Teaching and/or curriculum development experience at the K–12 level; K–1 experience a plus
• Superb writing and editing skills
• Ability to manage small project teams, including the coordination and oversight of schedules and resources in order to meet deadlines in a timely manner
• Ability to contribute to all aspects of the development process (contributing to product research and development, writing and editing content, selecting literature)
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning practices at the classroom level as well as at school, district, and national levels
• Demonstrated knowledge of children’s literature
• Strong capacity for working collaboratively
• Strong time management skills, excellent initiative, and attention to detail
• Comfort with word processing and publishing software; experience with online or e-book development a plus
