|MAJOR DUTIES: The Retail Merchandise Manager, Books & Bibles is responsible for meeting customer needs and building sales and margins for Books & Bibles (print and electronic) through all Cokesbury channels. The incumbent oversees strategic planning, promotional direction and inventory assortment implementation as well as analysis/action plans for fulfillment of budgets. The incumbent also develops inventories that meet customer product selection needs, turn and open-to-buy budgets, as well as sales and margin needs. The incumbent works closely with the Executive Director, Merchandising for supply chain management, growth initiatives and strategic planning, as well as the Retail Merchandise Manager, Abingdon Press, Ministry Matters & Cokesbury Products for developing product assortments. The incumbent must be familiar with the unique demands of on-line bookselling, and especially aware of a variety of freight concerns. The incumbent must have a strong promotional and selling drive in order to pick the correct product to feature as well as to maximize all co-op and other vendor offers. The incumbent directs workflow for the assigned Retail Merchandiser(s) for planning, information management, timeliness and inventory flow management through all channels. The incumbent also collaborates with Cokesbury Marketing for best product presentation to meet customer needs.|
REQUIREMENTS A high school degree or equivalent and at least three (3) years of experience in retail buying, sales and margin, inventory control, expense management, and/or marketing and advertising. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, as well as experience with the Christian retail and wholesale market. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills. Excellent organizational, analytical, and reporting skills. Intermediate proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software (MS Office preferred). Strong product knowledge of Christian books and Bibles. Working knowledge of the general Christian market. Some travel required.
