Disney Consumer Products (DCP) is the business segment of The Walt Disney Company that extends the Disney brand to merchandise ranging from apparel, toys, home decor and books to interactive games, food and beverages, stationery, electronics and animation art.

Disney Publishing Worldwide develops original, award-winning content (both Disney and non-Disney branded), including Disney books, magazines and comic books. Its products are printed in more than 85 languages across 103 countries, and it is considered the largest publisher of children’s books and magazines in the world.
Disney-Hyperion Books publishes original trade picture books, including the best-selling Elephant & Piggie series by Mo Willems, middle grade novels such as The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan, and young adult novels such as the Seven Realms books by Cinda Williams Chima.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of book design experience, preferably in trade book publishing. He/she should have knowledge of all aspects of book design, from concept to production. He/she should be able to offer unique design solutions for a wide range of projects and also work with freelance illustrators and designers. He/she must be very organized, efficient, and have strong communication skills. He/she should be technically comfortable with such software programs as Indesign, Photoshop, Adobe, Word, and Outlook.

The Senior designer will work on original trade fiction and picture books. He/she will prioritize his/her own workload, report on job status on a regular basis, and work with art director, lead designer, editors, sales staff and production to produce high-quality projects in a fast-paced environment.
5+ years book design experience
• Demonstrated ability to think out of the box in developing concepts, covers, branding, logos and format design
• Proven design talent in creating innovative book design, application of typography, layout, color • Possess the ability to communicate and present ideas within a team environment in weekly cover concept meetings • Mastery of Adobe Creative suite
• Full knowledge of print production with solid digital production skills
• Knowledge of creating animated gifs/video trailers a plus • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and to shift priorities as the schedule dictates
