Position Description: This position will implement the vision of NavPress and ensure that its products support NavPress’ mission of discipleship, as well as meet industry standards of excellence. The Publisher is responsible for acquiring new authors, establishing submission/review guidelines and determining payment parameters. The Publisher will oversee the day-to-day business operations and will articulate the values and vision for the organization. The Publisher will develop and carry out the organization’s long-term strategic plan as well as understand and abide by all organization policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements: The primary responsibilities of the Publisher are as follows:

Movement to acquire higher level authors and the resources to accomplish our goals
Identify and pursue new business strategies with the goal of growing organization revenue
Maintain author relationships and retention
Provide effective and inspiring leadership with ability to motivate, encourage and lead a team to accomplish goals
Create an atmosphere of spiritual leadership and high ethical and biblical standards in the workplace
Oversee all publishing projects and services and that all NavPress products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image
Maintain and nurture relationship with Tyndale House Publishing and The Navigators insuring inclusion and accountability in product selection, completion and success
Prepare and submit annual operational budget to the Navigator National Leadership Team for review and approval including managing and reporting on progress and challenges
Work with Tyndale House Publishing on Profit and Loss Statements and financial accountability
Proven track record of acquiring content and innovative thinking to grow business
Responsible for managing NavPress personnel and payroll budget
Determine external business development and attend trade shows
Manage contract process from initiation to completion for each publishing project
Travel as needed to cultivate relationships with future trade book authors
Stay current on publishing and target-market trends, key front-liners and competing projects
Establish Industry Network
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required with Masters in Publishing field preferred. Minimum of 15 years of business management experience required; publishing experience required as well. Maintains a large network of contacts in the evangelical faith community. Excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Possess a can-do attitude and a desire to succeed. Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
