This is an outside sales position based in the Boston Area for people who understand the hard work they put in is directly related to success that comes to them. We are seeking a sales professional that is motivated to meet and exceed goals. The ideal candidate will be articulate, personable and not afraid of cold calls. A strong track record for opening and closing new business is a plus!
This position will secure (i.e. sell) adoptions of Oxford University Press products while reporting key information to our sales and marketing teams, as well as generating potential author leads for editorial development.

Here is what our high achievers do every day:
• Cold call potential adopters (40 - 50 a day) using blind sample lists, class schedules and other leads lists in order to close new business.
• Build and maintain relationships with instructors of university and community college programs and bookstore managers within an assigned territory.
• Achieve Sales Goal by selling college textbooks through strategic management of territory with use of appropriate selling skills
• Request exam and desk copies of OUP textbooks to be sent to professors as a precursor to sales calls.
• Ensuring that all major bookstores are serviced during rush periods.
• Track backorders and late adoptions carefully.
• Maintain accurate contact and adoption information in our data management system, Sales Force Dot Com.
• Proactively increase product knowledge individually and through participation in all sales meetings or conference calls.


Qualifications:
Four year degree
1-2 years of successful publishing or other professional sales experience. Excellent communication skills and telephone manner; superior organizational skills
ability to work independently
a strong knowledge of computers and current software
