A leading publisher of children’s materials for library, classroom, and trade seeks a Senior Product Manager/Senior Editorial Development Manager to join our team.

Our library products are found in every school library nationwide and in children’s sections of public libraries around the country. Our trade products are found in retail outlets throughout the world and are designed to foster a love of reading through engaging nonfiction and fiction content. Our rapidly growing classroom segment provides cutting edge instructional resources steeped in Common Core State Standards and standards for grade-level content, focused on research-based best practices for teaching and learning.

The Senior Product Manager/Senior Editorial Development Manager will represent the goals of the US Classroom market to the product development teams, envision and propose new physical and digital products for the classroom market; conduct market and product research and sales analysis, develop financial projections related to classroom product; ensure the product pipeline for classroom aligns with company strategic priorities, revenue, profitability and product development spend goals; and will liaise with sales and marketing staff and other stakeholders.

This position will also translate, communicate and guide product vision with development and production teams; review, guide, direct and approve as necessary products in development to ensure high quality and marketability; scout and acquire relevant product for classroom in accordance with market product goals; collaborate with development teams to ensure planned and acquired product meet budget requirements individually and in aggregate across markets; and will also collaborate with other market product managers, planning managers and market managers to meet planning and product development spend goals for multi-market and co-editioned product and overall company product spend goals.

The ideal candidate will have a BA degree in English, communication, journalism, or related field with minimum of 2+ years’ classroom teaching and/or instructional experience; 10+ years’ experience developing classroom products for the supplemental market; book publishing and/or digital media experience required; educational and classroom technology experience required.

The qualified candidate will have an understanding of K-8 curriculum (emphasis in elementary language arts, literacy, science and social studies); experience in digital product development; has pacing and scope and sequence for classroom delivery; has a demonstrated understanding of educational and specifically classroom publishing; demonstrated research and analytical skills; excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills; is team orientation; has attention to detail; is able to manage multiple deadlines; is a self starter; and has the ability to thrive working both independently and closely with others and is able to build consensus and lead without direct authority.
