|This position is located in Lanham, Maryland.|
|Rowman & Littlefield has an exciting position for an Acquisitions Editor interested in continuing to build a title list for professional educators and others interested in educational issues.|
The primary purpose of this position is to acquire manuscripts for professional and scholarly publication in the field of education, as well as to manage the company’s relationship with those who author these titles.
Other duties include:
--Acting as the liaison with production, design, and freelance editors to ensure the timely turnover of manuscripts;
--Discussing titles with the company’s marketing division;
--Reviewing manuscripts and negotiating contracts with authors in accordance with company policies;
--Representing imprint by attending professional meetings of interest to educators;
--Working with professional groups who have co-publishing agreements with Rowman & Littlefield; and
--Other duties as assigned
--Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
--Three or more years of proven title acquisition experience (experience in educational title acquisition strongly preferred).
--Familiar with current educational issues.
--Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style (additional familiarity with APA and/or AAA style preferred).
--Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access) and Windows.
--Excellent communication and time management skills.
