|Director, Trade Sales|
|Provides overall coordination, functional management, and leadership of all sales activities for Abingdon Press and Alliance Partners in order to achieve annual budget and sales growth goals. Responsibilities include all sales planning and budgeting; development of strategic market, customer, and product sales plans; recruitment, hiring, training, and coaching of sales managers, including defining and managing monthly and annual sales objectives; and researching and applying information regarding market trends and competitive activity. The incumbent is responsible for the effective application of Abingdon Press Trade Sales resources resulting in a positive return on investment. The incumbent is responsible for sales of all Abingdon Press products to trade retailers by developing and implementing sales plans in close association with the Executive Director of Marketing and Sales and the Associate Publishers for Abingdon Press. The unit works daily with Marketing Managers, Publicity Manager and Marketing Coordinators. The incumbent works closely with the Senior Vice President of Business Operations as well as the Executive Vice President of Revenue & Operations.|
A Bachelor’s Degree and at least seven (7) years of demonstrated experience in meeting sales goals, negotiation, selling to customer needs, motivating for sales, sales planning, building relationships, coaching, managing processes, market knowledge, developing budgets, sales logistics management, field sales team management, and direct selling to national accounts. A Master’s Degree in Business or related field preferred. Experience in Christian Publishing or retailing highly preferred. Additional experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Exceptional ability to read, analyze, and communicate financial and sales data. Exceptional presentation skills, including both design and development of effective presentations and presentation of same. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated sales presentation effectiveness. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong leadership ability, including proven supervisory skills and conflict management skills. Strong personal computer skills. Working knowledge of Christian markets.
