Description
This position will be responsible for the handling of day-to-day editorial needs for our digital publishing division including editing, production flow, detail management, and maintaining product release schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Manage the development of multiple titles to meet deadlines and market needs
- Manage and motivate authors through all stages of the writing process
- Edit and prepare manuscripts and art specs for turnover to Art, Design, and Production
- Proof all stages of manuscript in all formats, including art
- Ensure all text, photo and audio permissions are secured
- Establish, implement, and maintain agreed schedules
- Ensure administrative details are handled (e.g., permissions, reviewer invoices, etc.)
- Participate in the planning and implementation of market research
- Translate market research into the product development process to ensure titles are competitive
- Create a collaborative work environment with editorial, marketing, design, and other internal departments to ensure the ultimate success of the product
- Manage freelancers when needed

- Ability to work cooperatively within the project team to keep projects on schedule and at the appropriate quality
- Ability to motivate and guide authors
- Ability to work independently on all aspects of editing to ensure the following: pedagogical effectiveness, market appropriateness, consistency, accuracy, legal acceptability, and appropriate realization of the original intent of the work
- Ability to independently manage projects through to completion
- Ability to take initiative in the development of materials to meet requirements
- Ability to keep relevant documents and records pertaining to projects up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible for other parties
- Excellent organizational skills

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
Basic (Required)

• Bachelor's degree or greater;
• Minimum 3+ years of publishing experience, preferably juvenile and young adult titles; and experience with digital publishing and ebooks;
• Strong organizational, analytical, financial, negotiating, and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
• Must be innovative, highly motivated, and team-oriented;
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and meet established deadlines;
• MS Office required including strong Word, Outlook and Excel skills.
