ABRAMS seeks a detail-oriented individual, with expert-level copyediting and proofreading skills (both hard copy and electronically) to help manage the editorial process for a midsize illustrated book publisher with an annual list of 200+ titles, including art books, illustrated books, cookbooks and craft books. Individual will be responsible for working with Editorial, Design and Production departments to create and track workable schedules that support Sales and Marketing deadlines and ensure timely delivery of books; copyediting and proofreading book interiors, jacket copy and marketing materials; guiding books through the preproduction process including collating and checking corrections on page layouts, color proofs and bluelines; hiring, managing, and evaluating freelancers; utilizing a title management system to track and maintain book data; tracking book-related materials for sales and marketing uses; and working on seasonal catalogs.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; 3+ years' experience as a managing editor or production editor in the book industry, preferably for an illustrated-book publisher; previous experience with both cookbooks and craft books strongly preferred. We are seeking someone with a thorough command of the Chicago Manual of Style and the proven abilities to track multiple projects and meet important editorial production dates in a deadline-driven environment; create and manage schedules; work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Acrobat Pro.
