Description
HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Senior Production Editor for our General Books group.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise (from a production editorial standpoint) the production of complex and/or heavily illustrated fiction or non-fiction books from receipt of edited manuscript through bound book/epubs.
• Using MS Word and Harper's proprietary software, code and update electronic manuscripts; copyedits, proofreads, and routes jacket mechanicals and other materials
• Hire freelance copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers and oversees their work.
• Work with editors, designers, and production managers in anticipating and resolving problems.
• Evaluate and coordinate artwork and/or extensive back-matter materials.
• Collate and check proofs; copyedit and proofread miscellaneous material (i.e., front matter, back matter, indexes) and flap copy, mechanicals, and fujis.
• Manages multiple projects while maintaining high standards of quality control and tight production schedules.
• Provide backup for the department as needed.

Qualifications:

•Significant prior relevant work experience, 5+ years.
• Must have strong computer/MS Word skills.
• Solid copyediting and proofreading skills; college-level understanding of and use of the English language; be detail-oriented, well organized, and able to set priorities under pressure.
• Must possess college degree or equivalent work experience.
