Hard Case to Publish Quarry Novels Ahead of TV Series
In advance of a new TV series on Cinemax based on Max Allan Collins's Quarry books, Hard Case Crime will publish five original novels in the series – the first editions to appear in stores in almost 30 years.
The five books include Quarry, Quarry’s List, Quarry’s Deal, Quarry’s Cut, and Quarry’s Vote. They will feature covers with art by illustrator Robert McGinnis.
“I created Quarry in 1971 at the Writers Workshop in Iowa City, where I was swimming against the tide writing noir fiction," said Collins. "The golden age of paperback suspense was winding down, even as Vietnam was refusing to. That the art of Robert McGinnis, who painted the covers of Mickey Spillane novels and James Bond movie posters, might ever grace a book of mine seemed a dream impossible to come true. What a thrill to be wrong.”
