In a move that has been rumored for months, Victoria Gotti, author of 50,000-plus-copy Tor seller The Senator's Daughter, has signed a reported $1 million deal with Crown executive editor Sue Carswell for two more novels, as well as a family cookbook that will include recipes from her father, mob boss John Gotti. Gotti's second thriller, I'll Be Watching You, about a psychological suspense novelist who is being stalked, is tentatively scheduled for fall 1998 publication. Agent Frank Weimann told PW that he's been receiving calls from other publishers ever since the book, initially rejected by 15 publishers, came out in February. Weimann had to wait for Tor publisher Tom Doherty's final and what Weimann termed "substantial" offer before seeking out what he saw as the desired marketing muscle of a major house. Carswell told PW that while she was at Pocket Books, she had interested in Gotti and has even accompanied her on parts of her recent tour for the first book.
