A contributor to the Democratic National Committee wins two weeks in the White House's Lincoln Bedroom, only to encounter some Dickensian ghosts of bedroom inhabitants past -- and an Alice in Wonderland world where things get increasingly surreal. That's the premise behind Greetings from the Lincoln Bedroom, a book by political columnist Arianna Huffington recently signed for a reported high-six-figure advance by Crown editorial director Steve Ross in a deal negotiated by agent Richard Pine. Ross described the book as the right-wing equivalent of the bestselling Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot by Al Franken, who was cohost with Huffington on Comedy Central's Strange Bedfellows spots during last year's presidential campaign. Huffington, whose split from husband and former California Senate candidate Michael Huffington was revealed recently, is currently developing a political satire show for Comedy Central. Ross plans Greetings as Crown's lead nonfiction spring title.
