How Career Press Got Monty Python Book
Judy Quinn -- 9/29/97
What's Graham Crackers: Fuzzy Memories, Sillybits and Outright Lies, a book by deceased Monty Python member Graham Chapman, doing as a late addition to Career Press's fall list? According to sales director Anne Brooks, the book's compiler, Jim Yoakum, an American journalist who collaborated with Chapman, so liked the humor of Career Press's Breaking the Rules that he submitted the manuscript to the house without an agent. Yoakum will split royalties on what Brooks terms a "bargain" rights deal with David Sherlock, Chapman's longtime companion. The book has a foreword by John Cleese, a "backward" by Eric Idle and a "sideways" by Terry Jones. Career Press plans a 50,000 first printing.
