An 'Instant' Titanic Book
Judy Quinn -- 2/2/98
Pocket senior editor Nancy Miller got the idea on Friday, January 23, after reading excerpts of the transcripts in the New York Times' Word for Word column, and now, the mass market The Titanic Disaster: The Official Transcripts of the 1912 Senate Investigations will be in stores by mid-February. The transcripts are in the public domain, so the cost here is only for Tom Kuntz, the editor of the Word for Word columns, to write an introduction and edit what in raw form could be a 1000-plus-page book. Pocket's book, to include a 16-page black-and-white photo insert and an index, will be a "mere" 640 pages.
