Two Years Of Abundance
Daisy Maryles -- 3/16/98
Next week will mark another bestselling milestone, when Sarah Ban Breathnach's Simple Abundance will mark two years on our hardcover list-an impressive feat that has resulted in equally impressive print and sales figures. Since this title's November 1995 publication, Warner Books has gone back to press 41 times, bringing the total copies in print to 3,319,000; sales are almost 3.1 million copies. Ban Breathnach, who was dubbed by Time "the Martha Stewart of the Soul," has appeared on Oprah six times (most recently on January 23). The author's first monthly column on spirituality appears in the April issue of Good Housekeeping. Her companion journal, The Simple Abundance Journal of Gratitude, published in November 1996, has 756,000 copies in print after 10 trips to press. In June, 1995, Ban Breathnach created the Simple Abundance Charitable Fund, a nonprofit group dedicated to increasing awareness that "doing good" and "living the good life" have to go hand-in-hand; the author has personally contributed more than $500,000 to the fund, which supports about 25 nonprofit causes. Her many fans have to wait until October for her next book, Something More: Excavating Your Authentic Self.
