New At Random; Dr. Seuss
Calvin Reid -- 3/16/98
No doubt you're aware of At Random, the publisher's journal featuring its upcoming books and authors, launched in 1992. Well, in late 1997 it was relaunched as @random, an entirely online publication with much the same flavor. There are interviews, features and excerpts from the Random House list, and the online magazine also accepts submissions on topics of general literary interest. Currently available is the transcript of a panel of distinguished Random House authors discussing the always-bracing topic of race in America. Called "Conversations in Black and White," the panel featured Norman Mailer, William Bratton, Nathan McCall, Rita Mae Brown, Rosemary Bray and Randall Kennedy. In other developments, RandomHouse.com has redesigned and relaunched its Seussville (www.seussville.com) area, complete with lots of information on the good Dr. Seuss, new graphics, easier navigation and a link to the U.S. Postal Service to vote for a Cat in the Hat stamp.
