Hachette Hires Briton for Foreign Department
Herbert R. Lottman -- 5/11/98
In its inexorable march toward internationalization, France's Hachette has taken on an experienced British book trade personality, David Inman, formerly group sales director at Pan Macmillan and then managing director of Boxtree, to run the foreign department of its consumer division, Grande Diffusion, which publishes the group's practical books, travel guides, and children's catalogues.
The imprints with which Inman will be dealing include the popular Blue Guides, Hachette Jeunesse and Gautier-Languereau, and how-to and self-help titles under the Hachette and Marabout logos.

Alain Germillon, CEO of the group's Consumer Division, tells PW that Inman's writ is to augment sales of international co-editions and rights; his nationality indicates that the priority targets are the English-speaking nations.
