Clive Cussler wrote an admiring blurb that called him "the finest adventure writer on the scene today." Movie rights on his first three books (two unpublished) have been sold. Jack Du Brul is all of 28 years old, the same age, said his agent, Bob Diforio, that Stephen King was when Diforio, then a publisher, bought Carrie. Du Brul has created a series hero, geologist Philip Mercer, who is described as an Indiana Jones type involved in adventures worldwide. So far Du Brul has published Vulcan's Forge with Tor; it will be the house's lead paperback title for January. Charon's Landing is due next May and Medusa's Glance a year later. Bill Contardi at William Morris sold the movie options to Chambers Productions, a new group.
