Di Capua Imprint to Hyperion
Diane Roback -- 12/20/99

Michael di Capua, who until recently had his own imprint at HarperCollins, will be moving to Hyperion Books for Children, effective immediately, as publisher of Michael di Capua Books.

"Michael's taste and books are a really nice complement to the Hyperion list," said Lisa Holton, senior v-p and publisher of Global Children's Books at Disney Publishing Worldwide."The chemistry is right; he's a very good fit."

"Lisa and I spent five happy and productive years working together at HarperCollins," di Capua said. "We seem to have very similar views about books and the best way to publish them. I'm extremely happy about this chance to work with her again."

He anticipates publishing between four and eight books a year, and said he has several projects in the works that he hopes to be putting under contract soon.

Di Capua began his publishing career in 1962 and spent nearly 25 years at Farrar, Straus & Giroux before moving to HarperCollins in 1991. His imprint was closed this past September as a result of the consolidation of HarperCollins and Morrow (News, Oct. 11).

Authors and illustrators di Capua has worked with include Maurice Sendak, James Marshall, Randall Jarrell, Jules Feiffer, Fred Marcellino, Tor Seidler, Arthur Yorinks, Richard Egielski, Jon Agee and William Steig. His books have won three Caldecott Medals and four National Book Awards.
