Revenues inched up 1.1% at Millbrook Press, to $5.4 million, for the second quarter ended January 31, 2001, but net income fell to $107,000 from $151,000 in last year's second period. Millbrook president Jeff Conrad said the decline was due to increased spending related to the company's efforts to strengthen its Copper Beach and Twenty-First Century imprints as well as spending tied to the launch of its new imprint, Roaring Brook Press, which is slated to release its first titles in spring 2002 (News, Jan. 8). Total operating expenses in the quarter rose 18%.
