New Award from Hyperion
Staying Strong
Small Press Starts Up

Hyperion Books for Children has announced the creation of the New Voices, New Worlds award, which will grant one first-time author a book contract for a previously unpublished work. The annual award will be given to the winner of a competition for a piece of "contemporary or historical fiction for children ages 8—12 that reflects the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of the United States," according to the publisher's description. The competition started earlier this month, and entries will be accepted until August 31. For more information, or for a submission form, go to www.hyperionbooksforchildren.com.
