Bestselling inspirational author Deepak Chopra has been racing to complete a book offering comfort and solace to those battered by the events of September 11. It is The Deeper Wound: Preserving Your Soul in the Face of Fear and Tragedy, and Crown/Harmony plans to publish as early as December 4. World and audio rights were bought by Linda Loewenthal, v-p and executive editorial director of Harmony and Three Rivers, from agent Robert Gottlieb at Trident Media Group. Chopra has been extremely active since the attacks, traveling around the country, talking to groups at bookstores and offering comfort; his essay "The Deeper Wound," which is included in the book, was sponsored as a full-page ad in the New York Times. Chopra wrote the book, said Crown, in 10 days, in a fever of activity as he toured on behalf of his previous title, Grow Younger, Live Longer, and he wants a portion of the book's proceeds to go to the Red Cross. The book offers lessons in healing and affirmation on the way to "a higher reality."
