As 2001 draws to a close, it's beginning to look like the #1 book of the year has emerged not from a big New York house, but from a small, independent Christian one based in Sisters, Oregon, Multnomah. The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson, with more than 8.3 million copies sold in 2001 alone, is not only the fastest-selling book this year, but may also be the fastest-selling book of all time. Released in April 2000, Jabez has so far spent 37 weeks on PW's bestseller lists in 2001 and has retained the #1 slot on the New York Times Advice list for over 25 weeks. The second book in the BreakThrough series, Secrets of the Vine, has sold more than 2.9 million copies and stood right behind its predecessor on the bestseller charts for many months in 2001.
