One of the most successful trade paperback fiction titles this year has been Tracy Chevalier's Girl with a Pearl Earring. It's enjoyed a tenure of 42 weeks so far, and the total in print, according to Plume, is more than one million. The Dutton hardcover has 150,000 copies in print and had a seven-week tenure on our hardcover charts. Chevalier's second book, Falling Angels, naturally benefited by this success and has received tremendous press coverage. She was able to make most of the stops on her tour and drew large turnouts (more than 200 at Denver's Tattered Cover; SRO at Harry W. Schwartz in Milwaukee). Dutton has so far printed 127,000 copies.
