The comic artist who was one of the cornerstones of the golden age of TV with Your Show of Shows is to do a memoir of those times and of his extraordinary band of colleagues--including Carl Reiner, Woody Allen, Neil Simon, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart and many others--for Public Affairs executive editor Paul Golob. The editor bought world English rights to a book tentatively titled In Praise of Me to be co-written with comedy historian Eddy Friedfeld. It will not only tell tales of those days and people, but will also offer Caesar's insights into what makes great comedy. The book was signed with agent Mel Berger at the William Morris agency, and the plan is to publish in spring 2003. Meanwhile, Caesar has been enjoying something of a revival; his classic '50s shows have just been released on video and DVD.
