Saying it wants to "take the next step in the route," Palgrave, the global and academic joint-publishing venture between St. Martin's and Macmillan, has been renamed Palgrave Macmillan. Palgrave publisher and president Garrett Kiely said that the name "won't change things all that much," but that the Macmillan brand will help Palgrave "link strength to strength."

The house will continue to copublish the same number of books, about 700 including all U.S. and U.K. titles. Palgrave remains one of the few serious non-UP U.K. publishers. It also distributes a number of foreign publishers, including I.B. Tauris.
