Carl Hiaasen's newest bestseller, Basket Case, is about a failed investigative reporter stuck writing obits who follows up on his suspicions about the death of a rock star. And the marketing segue to that is a song of the same name by the author and singer/songwriter Warren Zevon that will be included on Zevon's new album, My Ride's Here, coming in March on Artemis Records. That may bring the Miami-based Hiaasen some additional sales and, meanwhile, Knopf has him on a 22-city tour through mid-February (10 of those cities are in his home state). Reviews have been excellent and first printing is 300,000.
