Two award-winning journalists from Seattle have teamed up to write The Air That Kills, an investigation into the poisoning of the American air by asbestos, from Montana to ground zero in New York. The pair, Andrew Schneider and David McCumber, have sold their book, via ICM's Richard Abate, to senior editor David Highfill at Putnam. He bought U.S. and Canadian, audio and first serial, and plans to publish next summer. Among the horrifying and inspiring stories in the book is that of a Montana woman who lost 43 members of her family to asbestosis, and is now fighting the W.R. Grace company, which she blames for their deaths, in court (shades of A Civil Action).
