The music family that stars in MTV's most successful show has signed a two-book deal with trade book publisher Carolyn Reidy at Simon & Schuster, a fellow Viacom company, in one of those synergistic deals that seems to happen surprisingly rarely in large groups. Dan Strone at Trident Media group made the world rights sale (plus audio), reported at around $3 million, in conjunction with Endeavor. The books are a trade paperback tie-in with the TV show, due in November, and a spring 2003 hardcover family memoir with contributions from each of the four on the show (Ozzy, his wife, Sharon, and kids Jack and Kelly), with input from daughter Aimee, not seen on the program.
