It looks as though Amanda Quick is maintaining her track record as one of today's leaders in women's fiction. Her 17th historical novel, Don't Look Back, was published as a Bantam hardcover on June 4 (copies in print: 120,000) and debuts on our list at #13. The new novel follows Quick's last national bestseller, Slightly Shady, which introduced Lavina Lake—the heroine of Don't Look Back—and spent four weeks on PW's charts. (The mass market edition, out in April, has nearly 800,000 copies in print.) As many of her fans know, Quick is a pseudonym for Jayne Ann Krentz, the bestselling contemporary romance author whose books in print total 25 million copies. Bantam is supporting this latest Quick opus with coast-to-coast radio ads and print ads in People and USA Today.
