Sounds True, the Boulder, Colo., audio publisher, has found a very specific way to tap into Americans' fascination with Buddhism, which, according to several indicators, is at an all-time high. The company has created a catalogue of audio materials devoted to the wisdom and teachings of Buddhism. Called Dharma Talk—dharma is a Buddhist term meaning "essential truths"—the catalogue contains articles, resources and interviews with such respected spiritual leaders/authors as Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh (Living Buddha, Living Christ) and Pema Chödrön, the first American-born Buddhist nun. Dharma Talk lists more than 60 of Sounds True's audio/video learning programs, including Chödrön's The Places That Scare You and The Jewel Tree of Tibet by Columbia professor Robert Thurman. The first issue of Dharma Talk, mailed earlier this year, went to more than 145,000 households across the country.
