The hardcover fiction list is filling up with holiday-themed stocking-stuffer novels. A fifth title, The Christmas Shoes, lands in the #9 spot on PW's list. Its inspiration was a song by the Reunion Records band NewSong that reached #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in just three weeks back in 2000. A year later, St. Martin's published the novella written by Donna VanLiere (wife of NewSong manager Troy VanLiere); the initial print run was 125,000. This year, CBS-TV aired (on Dec. 1) a TV movie that attracted about 17 million viewers (that week, it beat out Monday Night Football, 60 Minutes, Law & Order and The Sopranos). NewSong and the author did a 10-city tour and interviews on CNN Headline News are scheduled for December 24 and 25. There are now 385,000 copies.
