A book that predicts future oil shortages and associated stock market plunges has been signed by Warner executive editor Rick Horgan for fast-track publication to capitalize on the current significance of the problem. It's The Oil Factor: Understanding How It Drives Wall Street, the Economy and Your Financial Future by Wall Street analyst Stephen Leeb. Horgan bought world rights from agent Al Zuckerman at Writers House. This was Horgan's second big buy this month; he had previously shelled out a mid six figures for a first novel, Camera Obscura, by 26-year-old Vassar grad Miranda Beverly-Whittemore to agent Ann Hawkins as part of a two-book deal.
