Another book about Iraq, set in that other war, was the subject of a vigorous auction that ended in a win for Penguin, with Hilary Redmon clinching the deal. She got paperback rights to Baghdad Express: A Gulf War Memoir by former Marine Joel Turnipseed, whose book has been getting stellar reviews that have often linked it with the bestselling Jarhead, set in the same conflict. Turnipseed's book was a surprise hit for the Minnesota Historical Society Press, in the author's Twin Cities hometown; he is off on a seven-city tour for it next month—and is working on a novel. The auction was conducted by Ellen Levine at Trident.
