Two children's titles from Harcourt are being made into productions for the stage. Tomie dePaola's book Oliver Button Is a Sissy, about a boy who prefers dancing to football, has been produced by choruses all over the country for several years now, with the help of the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus, who commissioned the work. Upcoming performances include stops at the Kennedy Center on June 14 and Carnegie Hall on June 18.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry has been made into an opera by the Houston Grand Opera. An array of award-winning artists are involved in the production, including British composer Rachel Portman. The premiere was held in Houston on May 31, with performances running through June; the show will then travel in coming years to Milwaukee, Tulsa, Boston and Santa Fe.
