Stanley A. Renshon is an unusual combination of political scientist and psychoanalyst, and is bringing both his specialties to bear on a book called In His Father's Shadow: George W. Bush and the Politics of Transformation, which David Pervin at the Palgrave imprint at St. Martin's bought for North American rights from agent Andrew Blauner. The author, a professor at NYU, examines the significant moments of change in the president's life and how they have helped shape his psyche and personality. Renshon's previous book, High Hopes, a similarly analytical look at the Clinton presidency, won a number of awards.
