In connection with the reorganization of several divisions of the company, Baker & Taylor has laid off about 150 of the 800 employees at its Momence, Ill., warehouse, according to the Momence Daily Journal, which added that most of the affected employees were in the financial and credit departments.

In a brief press release, B&T said that it is moving "selected financial functions" from various offices to its Charlotte, N.C., headquarters. At the same time, the company is "realigning its customer service and returns departments to better and more efficiently serve its customers" by centralizing those departments in its Commerce, Ga., warehouse. B&T expects to complete the changes in the first quarter of next year. B&T had no further comment.

The moves are the first major changes at B&T since it was purchased by Willis Stein & Partners, a private investment group, this summer for $255 million.
