It's a sequel to his classic Light on Yoga called Light on Life, and was bought from agent Douglas Carlton Abrams at Idea Architects.... Judith Regan has signed Gen. Tommy Franks, who commanded the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to write a memoir about his rise from the ranks to the top of the army hierarchy; it was a world rights deal, made with ICM founder Marvin Josephson.... Random's Will Murphy bought a book about Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci, whose name was given to America by a 16th-century cartographer; it's by British historian Felipe Fernandez-Armesto and was bought, via agent Emma Sweeney, from London agent David Higham as part of a two-book deal.... Morrow's Carolyn Marino paid a solid six figures for a new two-book deal, world rights, with Robert Heilbrun, whose debut legal thriller Offer of Proof came out last month; the new books will also star his public defender Arch Gold. The agent was Amy Rennert. Marino also bought another sequel, by African-American author Kimberla Lawson Roby, to her Essence bestselling titles about philandering minister Curtis Black. This was a "significant" world rights deal with agent Elaine Koster....A satire on the notion of Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor of California seems an appropriate idea, and Geoff Kloske at S&S has signed one by humorist Andy Borowitz. It's called Governor Arnold: A Photodiary of Schwarzenegger's First 100 Days in Office and was bought for publication in January from agent Mort Janklow....We inadvertently switched captions in the last Hot Deals (Oct. 6) for the pictures of Isabel Rose and Jodi Picoult.
