The Chinese author Da Chen, whose first two books were both memoirs of his life growing up in the dark days of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, has now written his first adult novel, bought in a six-figure world rights deal by Shaye Areheart for her own Harmony imprint. The deal for the author of Colors of the Mountain and Sounds of the River as well as fiction for the children's market was made by Alex Glass and Robert Gottlieb at Trident Media Group. The book, called Brothers, is described as an epic novel of two brothers growing up, as Chen did, in a time of dire poverty and danger. The author now lives in upstate New York.
