Two in the family, Jonathan and Faye Kellerman, are already bestselling thriller authors, and now their son, Jesse, seems about to join them. Chris Pepe at Putnam/Berkley paid a healthy six figures for North American rights to his first two novels to agent Liza Dawson. The first of them is called Dead Water and features a single thirtysomething woman hopelessly in love with her oblivious boss. When he disappears on a trip to a remote part of Mexico and is found murdered, she gallantly sets out in search of answers. Young Kellerman is a Harvard grad with an MFA in theater arts from Brandeis and has already written a play and collaborated with his folks on a screenplay. Chandler Crawford is offering foreign rights.
