A book called The Autobiography of Medgar Evers will actually be written by the widow of the celebrated civil rights leader assassinated in 1963, Myrlie Evers, writing with noted African-American author and scholar Manning Marable. It was bought for Basic Books' Civitas imprint by publisher Elizabeth Maguire, who dealt directly with the authors in the world rights buy. She reports that Evers's widow will offer the first really authoritative account of Evers's life, work and premature death. The book will be published next June, in commemoration of the 42nd anniversary of his death.
