King's "mate" on the nonfiction roster is irreverent comedian Jon Stewart, the Emmy-winning host of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, whose first literary effort, America (The Book), was published by Warner Books on September 20 (copies in print: 1.2 million after nine trips to press). Not surprisingly, the media roster for this wildly popular media figure reads like a publicist's handbook. TV coverage has included The O-Reilly Factor, The Tonight Show, NPR's Morning Edition, Today, 60 Minutes, Charlie Rose and lots more; in print, cover stories in People and Rolling Stone, the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Time, GQ, People, etc. Stewart's solo signing at the Border's store in New York's new Time Warner Center sold some 600 books; still to come for Stewart are Big Apple gigs at Barnes & Noble's Union Square location and the New York Public Library, and at Politics & Prose in Washington, D.C.
