Actress Yeardley Smith, who is the voice of Lisa Simpson on the long-running TV show, is writing a memoir, called tentatively Are You Gonna Eat That?, and it was bought for Da Capo by senior editor Ben Schaefer. The world rights deal was made with Jim McCarthy at Dystel & Goderich, for publication in spring 2006.... Scribner's Beth Wareham bought a book called Grave Matters: A Guide to a More Natural Burial by first-time author Mark Harris, who outlines the procedures for a more eco-friendly system of interment, gradually catching on. The deal for world English rights was signed with Russell Galen at Scovil Chichak Galen.... Agent Georges Borchardt placed two more French titles, successful at home, with U.S. publishers: the novel Une Vie Française, which won the Prix Femina, with George Andreaou at Knopf, and Une Saison á la Mecque, an inside account of a pilgrimage to Mecca by Abdellah Hammoudi, with Elisabeth Sifton at FSG.... The remarkable story of a spiritualist tried for witchcraft in 1944 in WWII Britain because her seances were uncovering top-secret Allied shipping moves, was bought for Da Capo by Robert Pigeon. It's called The Undoing of Hellish Nell, by Nina Shandler, and was bought from Jim Levineat Levine Greenberg Literary.
