Sony is hoping that the high-resolution electronic paper display featured in its new Sony Reader will convince consumers to give dedicated e-book readers another look. The company unveiled the new device at last week's Consumer Electronics Show and will start selling the reader this spring at a price between $299 and $399. Weighing in at 8.8 ounces, the reader allows for 7,500 page turns per charge.

Sony expects to eventually carry e-books from all publishers. All e-books for the reader, however, must be downloaded from an online store being created by Sony Connect.
