We're at it again—but this year we're doing the Quills a little differently. The Quills gala will take place in the fall, but the selection process has been streamlined. Below you will find the finalists—five nominees in each of 18 categories, chosen by a team of PW editors from books published between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007. There's something for everyone here, we think you will agree. A board of 6,000 booksellers and librarians will determine the winners in each category, to be announced on September 10. Then the general public, via online voting, will have a month to choose its book of the year. All winners will be feted in October at Lincoln Center and on NBC.
